A group of smiling people of different ages is standing arm in arm on a meadow.
The National Climate Initiative supports districts, towns and communities in the design of local climate action concepts. Technical implementation is the responsibility of climate managers, who likewise receive support under this scheme. By investing in projects such as converting to energy-efficient LED lighting, not only are communities able to reduce their CO2 emissions, but also to ease the pressure on their budgets.

The German Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change (Deutsche AnpassungsStrategie – DAS, December 2008) created the framework for a mediumterm national adaptation process that is to be carried out with the Länder and other social groups, and in which the risks of climate change will be progressively identified, the actions that may be necessary specified, appropriate objectives defined, and possible adaptation measures developed and implemented. The strategy also delineates Germany’s international responsibilities.

As a clean, efficient, resource-saving and especially user-friendly overall solution the (electric) car in Germany looks forward to an assured future. With the establishment of regional showcases that demonstrate the wide spectrum of electric mobility and allow citizens to experience it first-hand, the Federal Government has initiated a new, innovative funding instrument.

In front of a blue, partly cloudy sky a white wind turbine towers from the bottom left corner. It casts a shadow in the shape of a gasoline pump. Taken as a whole, the picture emblemizes climate friendly electric mobility.
Global traffic growth is intensifying oil-distribution conflicts and, combined with the resulting rapid rise in emissions, endangering the effectiveness of climate policies. Although electric drives are highly efficient, they will only help fight climate change if the power they use is renewable.

This publication provides an overview of how Germany contributes together with its partners in the framework of international cooperation for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity and thus also to sustainable development. The current use of natural resources is already far exceeding the Earth’s regenerative capacity. A responsible and efficient use of natural resources will therefore be a key competence for any society seeking to ensure its future viability. Improving resource efficiency can limit environmental damage, strengthen the competitiveness of the German economy, create new jobs and secure long-term employment. Therefore, on 29 February 2012, the Federal Cabinet adopted the German Resource Efficiency Programme (ProgRess). With this, the German government implemented the decision in its Raw Materials Strategy of 20 October 2010 to develop a national resource efficiency programme.
