The corresponding amendment has already secured the required number of ratifications just one year after its adoption in the Rwandan capital Kigali and can now enter into force in 2019. This strong political support is the result of the Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol which concluded on November 25th. Germany was one of the first parties to deposit its instrument of ratification for the Kigali Amendment. more

Since the Partnership was founded one year ago, its membership has almost doubled from 41 to 77 members, with 48 developing countries, 16 developed countries and 13 international organisations. more

The Twelfth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP12) in Manila, the Philippines, which concluded on 28 October 2017, achieved ground-breaking successes in species conservation. Over thirty new animal and subspecies were added to the CMS Appendices and will thus receive protection under the international convention. more
