The foundation council of the Berlin Palace - Humboldtforum takes decisions relevant for the foundation and its development in both fundamental and specific matters including fundamental decisions relating to the construction, drawing up the foundation's work programme, determining the finance planning and appointing the executive board and the members of the board of trustees.
Alongside the executive board and the board of trustees, the foundation council is one of three bodies of the Foundation Berlin Palace - Humboldtforum. The foundation council consists of fifteen members working for the foundation on a voluntary basis. Five members are appointed by the German Bundestag, four members are government appointees from the Federal Environment Ministry, the Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media, the Federal Finance Ministry and the Federal Foreign Office. The Federal Constituent State of Berlin and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz). appoint two members each and one member each is designated by the Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH and the Humboldt University.
